# Credits and Usage

Using the HG Insights API consumes credits from your account. Understanding how credits work helps you manage your usage effectively.

## How Credits Work

Each API request consumes credits based on the data you retrieve. When you make a request to the API, credits are deducted from your account's available balance.

### Credit Consumption

The number of credits consumed depends on:

- **Number of companies**: Each company enriched in your request counts toward credit usage
- **Field groups requested**: The data categories you include (firmographics, spend, technographics)


## Your Credit Balance

Your account has a yearly credit allocation based on your subscription plan.

To check your current credit balance, log in to [admin.hginsights.com](https://admin.hginsights.com) and go to **Settings** > **Credits Usage**.
